Girls Only Training Camp Report - July 2025

Dates: 29th June – 4th July 2025
Location: Cork Powerboat and Waterski Club

From the 29th of June to the 4th of July, we held a highly successful Girls Only Training Camp at Cork Powerboat and Waterski Club, welcoming seven dedicated and enthusiastic young athletes: Keanna McKibbin, Uma Prunty, Jodie McCabe, Lauren Hennessy, Robyn Malone, Kezzy McKibbin, and Kate Callagy.

Highlights of the Camp:

  • Weather: We were fortunate to enjoy excellent weather throughout the week, which greatly contributed to productive training and a positive atmosphere.

  • Training Volume: Each participant completed three full sets daily, showcasing both commitment and stamina. On several days, we capped off the training with tube rides, adding a fun and team-building element to the experience.

  • Training Focus:

    • The camp primarily focused on Slalom and Trick skiing.

    • On the final day, we held a Jump session, with six of the seven girls taking part. Impressively, three girls went over the top of the ramp, and Kezzy McKibbin landed her first ever jump—a major achievement.

Post-Camp Achievements:

Since the camp:

  • Four girls have successfully landed their first jumps and have gone on to score in the Irish National Waterski Championships.

  • The progress made during the camp enabled four participants to compete in the Nationals in the Overall category, marking the first time in years that we’ve had U14 and U17 girls competing as overall skiers.

Technology & Skill Development:

  • Each participant gained hands-on experience with the new live TV equipment, learning how to operate it correctly.

  • This system was also used to record training sets, enabling video analysis and feedback sessions if needed that supported individual skill development.

Looking Ahead:

Given the success of this camp and the measurable progress achieved by all attendees, we are aiming to run another camp soon. The goal will be to consolidate skills, refine techniques, and continue supporting the growth of female skiers in the sport.
