Practice was held on the 10th June from 4pm till late in very challenging conditions choppy water wind and rain .
However this was an experience as it was never going to get worse  on competition day and gave the competitors a chance to ride the awesome wake of the G23 supplied by Gary McClintock and piloted by Andy McQuiggan .

Competition Day:

Conditions were better than the day before but windy from a different direction making the water somewhat calmer not ideal but ok .
Originally we had 22 intentions to enter on the day 17 rode.
The event got under way at 10.15 with under 14s .they were all newcomers to the sport and were well supported by the gallery on the bank .
This was followed by Jr men , masters , open ladies and open men .
The format was best2 out of 3 runs . All competitors had completed their first 2 runs by 4pm.
After refuelling the final runs were completed and prizing giving concluded at 8pm.
Paul Carroll and Linda Johnston looked after the judging and calculations
This was probably one of the best run events as the club had gone out of their way to ensure it was an enjoyable day for all .
Thanks to all the sponsors who contributed to the event , this meant there was no charge for practice , no entry fee and actual vouchers with the edge water sports for podium places .
Food teas coffees and soft drinks were supplied free of charge all day , starting with fresh scones jam and cream , followed by the bbq , salmon , prawns , burgers , chicken skewers and sausages , followed by the best marshmallow biscuits ever. (Louise Connolly ) Well done guys and gals .
In all it was a great day to see not only new faces but the old  crew all showed up . It was well supported with over a hundred on the bank to roar on the riders . There was time when riders took boards to the podium to please sponsors , this year it was their new additions to the family . Well done Newferry for organising this great event .
