All Roads led to Cork last weekend for the 2018 National Boat Wakeboarding Championships. The event was hosted by Barry Galvin and his Team at Cork Powerboat and Waterski Club. Few sneaky practice slots were held on Friday evening and all kicked off on time on Saturday Morning at 9am sharp. The evnt boat was the ever reliable and solid Super Air Nautique 210, kindly donated for the competition by Graham Connolly, and the wake did not dissappoint.
As ever the organisation was excellent with a reporter/photographer from the The Irish Examiner in the boat and a guest photographer on hand to cover all angles. Refreshments were on hand compliments of CPWSC, Tommy Whelans Sausages and O'Briens Sandwich Bar . To all those who sponsored the event we say a Massive Thank You.
Chief Judge on the day was Paul Johnston, ably assisted by his No. 2, Andy Mc Quiggan and David O'Caoimh, Nicole Carroll and Aisling Deegan filling the Judging Panel. Barry Drove for the day and Cathal O'Caoimh did the Scoring. Federation President, Paul Carroll, attended and kept a watchful eye on proceedings. While the entry was limited, mostly due to an unavoidable change f venue, the riding was superb, there were a few first timers and a retrn competitor to Veterans.
The sun shone and the wind settled, changed direction and settled again. Barry had two courses sorted for us and was able to change to suit whatever the wind tried to do, great location with beautiful views and excellent water.
The competition opened with three sections, we amalgamated Junior, Novice and U14 boys and also added the Veteran to the Open Men.
Resuts are listed below. The Federation wish to acknowledge the massive work done by Barry to bring it all together and to the Riders who Travelled from far and near, we say thank you.
Our Novice rider Cian did exceptionally well and Rebecca in her first competition showed great courage and did herself proud. The day was rounded off with a meal in Blair's, again EXCEPTIONAL is an understatement, good craic, great food and best of all the Company. Fabulous.
Till Next Year. Thank You all.
