Golden Falls Waterski Club

Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare

Golden Falls Waterski Club dates back to 1959 and is one of Europe’s oldest active Waterski Clubs. The magnificent fresh water Golden Falls Lake is just on Dublin’s doorstep, making it within easy reach of over one million potential Skiers!

A great debt of gratitude is owed to our original “explorers” who first discovered our lake – the Johnson and Bewley families – and also to Alan Dagg who set the standard for the next generation before he moved to Perth in Western Australia.

The next generation during the 1980’s and 1990’s and into the next century was spearheaded by Des Burke-Kennedy and Harry Bridges. This was a period of solid development, fundraising and the hosting of some very significant international waterski competitions. The fundraising partnership with Irish Distillers had a major impact on the Club’s facilities. Included were a new Jump Ramp, a new Club boat every 24 months, the creation of the Golden Falls Boardwalk, landscaping and Clubhouse upgrading – and the construction of stainless steel Slalom and Jump Courses. The introduction of all the latest technology by Donal Connolly with his SplashEye invention which is now a global success added greatly to the quality of competitions at all levels.
